MIAMI, FL — Give Kids A Chance, a donor-advised fund dedicated to supporting college-bound students from low-income families, has awarded scholarships to 27 high school seniors across the state as part of its 2026 awards cycle.
The organization was founded in 2004 by Brian McDonough, a partner at Stearns Weaver Miller and Chair of the firm’s Affordable Housing practice group. Give Kids A Chance also benefits from a strong partnership with The Miami Foundation, which provides fund management and philanthropic support. Since its inception, the fund has:
- Raised more than $3 million in contributions
- Awarded 500 scholarships (nearly 70% to minority students)
- Reached students in nearly every county in Florida
- Grown into one of the largest donor-advised funds in The Miami Foundation’s portfolio
The fund’s signature fundraising event is its annual golf tournament in Miami Beach, co-hosted by Stearns Weaver Miller and CohnReznick. The tournament brings together many of Florida’s leading affordable housing developers, as well as key financial partners in the industry. This year’s Tournament will be held at Miami Beach Golf Club on October 19, 2026.
“Give Kids A Chance’s motto is ‘Education is Power,’” said McDonough. “Our mission is to support students with the ambition to pursue higher education but who may lack the financial means. To every student who applies, we offer our encouragement and wish you success as you continue working toward your goals. To our supporters, thank you for your ongoing dedication and generosity and for helping us invest in the future of our communities.”
