MIAMI, FL — Stearns Weaver Miller announced Dade Legal Aid Put Something Back Pro Bono Project honored the firm’s Marital & Family Law Department with its Law Firm Pro Bono Award. The award was presented at the organization’s thirty-third annual Nuts & Bolts Family Law Seminar on May 29, 2025. Dade Legal Aid provides free civil legal services for low-income children, foster youth, individuals and families in need in Miami-Dade County.

For many years, members of the firm’s Marital & Family Law department including Barry Wayne, Lindsay Gunia, Cyril Moody and Kendal Rinko, have handled complex pro bono family law cases on behalf of Dade Legal Aid clients. The group has devoted substantial time, effort, and resources, navigating intricate issues related to support, the division of multiple retirement accounts, and the division of real property. Their work involved unique legal and financial challenges for a pro bono client. Thanks to their tireless advocacy and dedication, the client’s matter was successfully resolved just before a scheduled trial through a Marital Settlement Agreement, which was later incorporated into a Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage.

“We are deeply honored to receive this pro bono award. We are proud to stand with those in need, and this recognition inspires us to continue serving our community with compassion and integrity,” said Chair of the Marital & Family Law group, Barry Wayne.

Stearns Weaver Miller’s Marital & Family Law group represents high-income, significant-net-worth clients in all facets of marital and family law including negotiating and drafting prenuptial, postnuptial, and marital settlement agreements, as well as handling complex divorces, paternity matters and disputes that cross state and international borders.
