Elizabeth Desloge Ellis Elected to Represent the Second Judicial Circuit on The Florida Bar Board of Governors
TALLAHASSEE, FL – Stearns Weaver Miller announced that attorney Elizabeth Desloge Ellis was elected to represent the Second Judicial Circuit on The Florida Bar Board of Governors. The 52-member Board of Governors has exclusive authority to formulate and adopt matters of policy concerning the activities of the Bar.
Liz has an extensive record of Bar service, including serving on The Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Professionalism and the Second Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee 2B. She is the current President of the Tallahassee Bar Association (TBA) and has served on the Board of Directors since 2021, including as President of the Young Lawyers Section, Events Chair, and co-chair of the annual Chili Cookoff benefitting the Legal Aid Foundation. Liz serves on the Board of Directors for the Tallahassee Women Lawyers and as a member of the William H. Stafford American Inn of Court. She also helps lead circuit-wide initiatives such as the annual Bench and Bar Holiday Party, which brings together multiple Bar organizations to strengthen professional relationships.

In addition to her Bar involvement, Liz serves as President of the Board of Directors for Refuge House, where she helps set strategic priorities, expand services, secure funding, and increase community engagement, including the launch of Refuge House’s annual Mardi Gras Ball, which generates critical support for survivor programs. She also serves as Curriculum Chair for Leadership Tallahassee Class 43, supporting the development of ethical, civically engaged leaders.
Liz represents private and public sector clients in complex real estate development, land use and property rights matters. She also maintains a broad litigation practice, representing clients on a variety of matters, including public records and constitutional law. Prior to joining the firm, she served as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit, where she tried more than 50 jury trials as first chair, handling cases from traffic offenses to life felonies.
