Elizabeth Desloge Ellis Elected President of Tallahassee Bar Association
TALLAHASSEE, FL – Stearns Weaver Miller announced that Tallahassee Shareholder Elizabeth Desloge Ellis was elected to serve as President of the Tallahassee Bar Association (TBA). Liz has been a member of the TBA Board of Directors since 2023, previously serving as President-Elect in 2025 and Secretary from 2023-2025. She also served on the Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors from 2018-2022, including as President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer.
During her tenure on TBA’s Board of Directors, Liz spearheaded the first annual Bench and Bar Holiday Party, bringing together TBA, Tallahassee Women Lawyers (TWL), the William H. Stafford Inn of Court, the First District Appellate American Inn of Court, and the Florida Government Bar Association to host a combined holiday party for the entire circuit. She has further demonstrated her commitment to TBA by co-chairing the Annual Chili Cookoff for four years. The signature fundraising event held every October to benefit the Legal Aid Foundation (LAF) of Tallahassee, raised over $30,000 for LAF in 2025, the most in its 28 years. Additionally, Liz implemented an “Adulting 101” program for the YLS where young lawyers teach high school students about important life skills including finance, interviewing techniques, and interacting with law enforcement. In 2022, Liz earned TBA’s Thomas M. Ervin, Jr. Distinguished Young Lawyer award in honor of her service.
In addition to her involvement with TBA, Liz serves as President of the Refuge House of the Big Bend and is a board member of TWL. She was also appointed to serve on the Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Professionalism by a former Florida Bar President and is a member of the William H. Stafford American Inn of Court. Liz’s 2023-2024 Inn of Court team was selected by the American Inns of Court as one of the Outstanding Program Award winners and was honored at the United States Supreme Court in July 2024. Liz is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee Class 37 and received the Leadership Tallahassee Pacesetter Award as part of their 2025 Distinguished Leadership Awards. Liz currently serves as Curriculum Chair for this year’s Leadership Tallahassee Class 43.
Liz represents private and public sector clients in complex real estate development, land use and property rights litigation matters. She also maintains a broad litigation practice, representing clients on a variety of matters, including public records and constitutional law.
Tallahassee attorney Hannah E. Murphy was also elected to serve as the TBA’s Communications Director for 2025-2026.
