Laura specializes in collaborating with private and public sector employers to formulate winning strategies and achieve diplomatic and effective labor relations and other tactical goals. Through negotiations and counseling, Laura has helped save clients millions of dollars through collective bargaining, administration of union grievances, arbitration proceedings, and defending unfair labor practice disputes.
In addition to her labor practice, Laura is dedicated to helping employers defend discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination claims; fulfill applicable wage and overtime laws; and perpetuate independent contractor and other workforce relationships. Laura’s litigation experience also extends to a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including contractual and commercial disputes in both federal and state courts.
Laura earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University Of Miami School Of Law.
Laura has been a lifelong advocate. In 2013, as student body President at Florida International University (FIU), Laura represented over 45,000 students and successfully lobbied at both a state and federal level for higher education, including student financial aid, gainful employment opportunities and reduction and awareness of student loan debt. Her efforts helped establish the student scholarship fund that raised over $200,000 for first generation students.
From 2013 – 2014, Laura served as a member of FIU’s Board of Trustees. Laura’s active participation as a trustee made her keystone in key leadership decisions. Most notably, Laura served as chairperson for a university fee committee appropriating over $15 million dollars.
