Carla Garcia is a Shareholder in the Real Estate department. Her practice focuses on representing lenders and investors in multiple types of commercial transactions including real estate and non-real estate secured, asset-based, and construction loans. She is highly experienced with structuring and negotiating distressed loans including loan modifications, workouts and loan sale transactions.
Prior to joining the Firm, Carla had over 15 years of experience working as in-house counsel for two major financial institutions, including at one of the largest financial institutions in the state of Florida. As in-house counsel, she provided guidance to bank departments, including credit risk and lending divisions, and managed the Loan Closing Department. In this role, Carla directed a team, headed a title company and completed numerous transactions over the years, as well as managed outside counsel. Carla also assisted with external and internal audit reviews and created risk-minimizing policies. Carla’s in-house positions provide her with unique insight into the inner workings of banks. Her knowledge of the operational and legal functions of processing and closing loans provides a strategic advantage to clients.
Before going in-house, Carla represented borrowers, including real estate developers and investors.
